Thursday Update – Costco Sale Items for Mar 12-15, 2020 for BC, AB, MB, SK

Hi Everyone!
Now that a pandemic has been announced, Costco today was incredibly busy. The parking lot in Langley Costco was almost filled at 9:00AM. Schools in Ontario have been shut down for an extra two weeks for spring break. People are definitely talking about stocking up on essentials (non-perishables) at Costco. It might be prudent to do an inventory of your supplies and make sure you have enough in your house.

The Langley Costco has signs limiting Toilet Paper purchases to two products per membership per day. There was an orderly line to the back of the store that stretched all the way to the front of the store as the employees funneled shoppers to create a sense or order.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for the blog updates. The Sak wallet is fantastic and a very good deal. I bought one a few months ago and use it everyday.
I hope that everyone follows the public health guidelines to stay safe. As someone who is immunocompromised due to medication I am on, I have been advised to self-isolate, which I am currently doing. I have been concerned about the government’s delayed response to the threat, but finally there is some action in the last couple of days. We have seen how this virus can take off in other countries – and we are not immune. Actually no one is, as there is currently no vaccine and no treatment other than support. Those very ill will need critical care and ventilators which are in very short supply in Canada. I have written to the Prime Minister and Health Minister about this concern – I invite you to do the same.
It is better to be safe than sorry. I do hope that people will work from home if they can and limit outings including shopping and especially travel.
I work at a health clinic and am a proud Canadian.
I’m nearly ashamed to call myself Canadian this week.
Every US election year (this year is an election year in the US), fear mongering is dished out to the masses. I expect them to fall for it, due to their education levels being so much lower than they are here. I didn’t expect Canadians to be stupid enough to. However, I do also blame the Canadian media for acting the same as the US…..feeding the flames of fear 24 hours a day. They should be held accountable for their actions.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is basically a more aggressive flu. Is easier to catch than previous flu viruses.

Globally, the WHO estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year. The flu is harder to fight off for SPECIFIC POPULATIONS, such as infants, young children and the elderly (as well as people that are immunocompromised).

When you get the flu (or COVID-19), you should;
1. get plenty of sleep
2. drink lots of liquids
3. treat aches and fevers (Advil, Tylenol, etc…)
4. use cough syrups and lozenges
5. sit in a steamy bathroom (good hot shower)
6. use a humidifier
7. use saline drops/sprays to help clear mucus build up
8. use antivirals as soon as you contract the flu (as recommended by a doctor) (not available yet for COVID-19, but will be soon)

BEFORE YOU GET THE FLU (or COVID-19), you should;
1. get a yearly vaccination
2. avoid close contact (hugs, handshakes)
3. wash your hands
4. avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

You never need excessive amounts of toilet paper. Only if you have diarrhea, which is NOT A SYMPTOM OF THE FLU. And even then, you should elicit medical help if diarrhea last more than a few days.
Thank goodness I have a couple of packages of toilet paper already. I don’t need to go to Costco and be around so many vacuous people at the same time.
There’s only one thing worse than ignorant people. People with an equal mix of ignorance and arrogance. Most of them work in politics and government positions, especially bureaucrats. Thank GOD I rarely have to deal with them directly.
I’m in Alberta too. Within 10 minutes of opening all the TP were sold out and people were stalking carts. Some were arguing with others. I saw one person had 5 TP in their cart loading into their trunk. Idk why. I’m actually out but really. That’s ridiculous to fuel the madness. Anyhow, remember to keep washing hands!

Unless you have 20 people living at your house, nobody needs more than 2 packages of Costco sized toilet paper for a month or 2….
Costco should be limiting things like toilet tissue to calm the people’s lunacy! I think people have lost their minds. Hope toilet paper tastes good…lol. They must be under the assumption that as long as you have a clean butt your good to go…lol. Have a great day
I am in Alberta. I have seen a fist fight break out over T.P. at Costco. I have had a Save On Foods Cashier and a Save On Foods stock boy tell me separately on different days that customers were telling them that they were buying T.P. to use as Face Masks! On a separate occasion last week, I saw a person with Five Costco sized packs of T.P. refuse to give One of them up to an Elderly Lady who explained that she had run out at home and could not find any in the stores she had been to. Now more than ever those of us who are reasonable human beings need to practice patience, go out of our way to perform deliberate acts of kindness and generally act as support beams to the structure of our society. It is so much easier than we think for it all to descend into chaos. We cant take it for granted.
