Olivia’s Cake Pops Review

Olivia’s Cake Pops

Not usually a cake pop fan but these are surprisingly yummy!

Please note that this review was not paid for or sponsored by any third party. I purchased this product with my own money and the opinions in this review are strictly my own. I am not affiliated with Costco or any of its suppliers. I am just a fan of the company. I write these reviews to help my fellow shoppers.

Hi it’s Natalie from the Costco food and product review fan blog  Costcuisine! If you like my reviews for Costco food products the greatest thing you can do is follow me on  Instagram or Facebook and also tell your friends about my blog Costcuisine where I review tons of Costco food products each week!  In the last week I reviewed the Costco Kirkland Signature Palm Leaves, Costco Tim Hortons Birthday Cake Timbits Cereal and Costco Arumi Japchae Korean Stir-Fried Glass Noodles.

We got our winter tires on at Costco this past Friday just in time for a MASSIVE snow dump here in Edmonton! It took about an hour and a half to have them put on so of course I spent extra time picking out certain things to review! If you’re interested in the Christmas treats Costco has (specifically all the different boxes of chocolate) I’ll be reviewing them on my blog in the coming weeks! As I perused the bakery aisle I spotted the Olivia’s Cake Pops. I’m pretty skeptical about cake pops, I find them a little dry, artificial tasting and much too sweet but I decided to pick these up to review anyways!

Cost

I paid $9.99 Canadian for the Olivia’s Cake Pops and you get 12 cake pops in the box. This is actually pretty reasonable considering how much you pay for a single cake pop at certain coffee shops and bakeries but at the same time you’re not getting a whole lot of cake!

Convenience

The best before date is about a week and a half from the date we purchased the cake pops. They come in a resealable plastic container inside the box that is specially made for cake pops. The packaging states they can be frozen if not consumed by the best before date. These are perfect for a birthday party or for a kid’s treat! They’re colorful and fun.

Olivia’s Cake Pops Ingredients

Nutrition

One cake pop is 120-125 calories depending on the flavor. These are nut-free and have no artificial colours, preservatives or flavors. Obviously, these aren’t healthy but one cake pop is actually not that many calories, fat or sugar if you’re craving something sweet!

Taste

These shocked me! I’ll be honest and say I judged the packing and thought they’d be cheap and artificial tasting. I was pleasantly surprised and so was my husband. There are two flavors, chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate is fudgy, moist, really chocolaty and sweet. You get a little bit of crunch from the sprinkles and hard chocolate shell. The vanilla is also very moist, sweet, has a birthday cake flavor to it and is delicious. Both my husband and I preferred the chocolate but that’s because we’re chocolate lovers. The actual cake in both cake pops isn’t at all artificial tasting and dare I say it, tastes almost homemade. These are probably the best cake pops I’ve had. They’re not absolutely amazing but they’re pretty good for a fun, unique dessert or treat!

Olivia’s Cake Pops Vanilla

I’m glad I actually tried these! They were a lot better than I thought they’d be and I definitely think kids would enjoy these!

Cost: 7/10

Convenience: 10/10

Nutrition: 1/10 ( but not that many calories for a sweet treat)

Taste: 8/10

Would you get these for your kids or try them yourself?
