I hope you are all doing well. Today I went to Brighton Costco in Burnaby since I haven’t been there in a while. I thought that this might help skip some of the crowds and lines that have been forming lately. It was a really pleasant experience. I found parking right near the entrance of the store and there was no wait at the cashier! I’ll will definitely go back!
This weekend’s snowstorm was a bit of a bust so we ended up staying inside in the rain and watching movies. There are lots of items on sale still so I’ll just leave the photos up here.

I guess I’ve always been the type of person who goes to a lot of different costco locations so I’ve always noticed the discrepancies between locations. For example a big one is hockey tape – Willingdon is the only Vancouver location that consistently stocks it but it sometimes shows up at my regular location. Now that I’m in Calgary a lot of items are different in terms of in-store sales AND with the same local location variation that exists in Vancouver.
Anyways everyone can have a voice because you are a light-handed moderator and I think that is probably for the best. Just ignore the rude people and keep doing what you’ve been doing which is gradually add to the site features as you see fit. People are still welcome to go to the store and wander around aimlessly.

The comment above about web traffic driving up your ad revenue – such a ridiculous and asinine perspective. If I ran a site like this, I would tell them all to go pound sand. Hey, so I noticed the sale on 908g “double pack” Cardinal ribs and went to my freezer to check and I still had a pack from last year…. 1.35kg… huh. So they’ve lopped almost 1/2 kg off and I never even noticed. I know pork and beef have been at a premium for awhile but that’s pretty bogus.
Oh my. Whatever you do, please avoid the up/downvote option. That is insulting, demeaning, and abusive.
When someone disagrees with your comment, say, that food item tasted terrible, what will they do when they see a up or down vote icon? They’ll downvote it whether they disagree with it or if it’s out of spite (malicious).
I have seen countless of fact based comments on RFD (your old stomping grounds) and on Reddit where they get downvoted all because the culture of that thread was dominated by a a few and then the rest follow the shape of the thread.
It’s not rationale to see things any other way. The abusive nature of the downvoting and upvoting system far supersedes any benefit.
This site/blog has turned into a childish forum where people to rant and rave. I can see you love to have controversy and debate here, it brings more visitors. If I was to speculate, I would say this is won’t be bringing in any order and filtering out rants and raves — pity.
Yes he was here from RFD when it was a strict volunteer thing when the previous guy went MIA. He eventually then decided a dedicated website was more appropriate. Eventually keeping up with maintenance costs money and his own time, so asking for people to subscribe for early access to provide a more enhanced experience for viewers was necessary to help fund this project.
Paid or unpaid subscribers should just appreciate someone else is doing this. If you don’t like it, don’t depend on it.
I have noticed errors before but instead of conplaining and going beyond pointing it out (demanding, like Donna did), i am only just appreciating all the hard work here by Tynan.
I wish all these kinds of comments about “Donna” and “Karen” would just stop. Whether they’re in defence of the commenter or against, I suggest you add a feedback section and from this moment forward and stop approving such comments. It’s frustrating and common to read lazy or half-intelligent comments.
It goes without saying in the world of the internet, forums, social media, and blogs you’re going to have friends, clicks, and others arguing their or others’ positions and congregate to one location (like here) and defend their friends (or the like-minded). What we have shown now, more than ever is how systematically even in Canada, we are very divided on many levels.
I feel Donna’s tone was a little rude. I believe she has some friends who came and supported her here. It may even be her or her family.
And it’s for this exact reason why I feel these off-topic comments must stop. If people fail to make an effort and go through your site or don’t read the common questions, that’s their fault. If I was a premium member, I’d be choked having to read all these petty comments/remarks. This isn’t Facebook, Parler, or Reddit.

I feel lucky that this blog has a really good user base and I don’t have to delete many comments (expect for SPAM) I try to keep a light hand while moderating comments unless they are rude or completely off topic. Unless the situation changes, I’ll probably keep the same level of moderation. I hope to be able to update the comment section to be able to upvote or downvote comments which may help clean up the comment section too 🙂

Thank you for what you do. I usually check here b4 I drive to the city for my costco trip. Since I am in Alberta, BC sales and dates are sometimes different, but I would say about 90% of what you post we have. Knowing that supply, suppliers, and different province there will be odd small differences, and I go in expecting such. Still your blog will put things on my list to make sure I watch for. Certain comments (that may be considered criticism by some) are actually suggestions in disguise. You may want to consider Donna’s comments for your paid service – filtering your list based on sale, clearance and new – if you haven’t already. I live in Saskatchewan and quite often items that are on sale in the BC stores are not on sale here. I think expiry dates sometimes can make a difference on whether it goes on sale here. Thank you for all the work you do, I don’t go shopping until I check your post.

Has anyone else noticed the change in KIRKLAND TOILET PAPER?
It used to be a decent product for a decent price, now it is thinner, cheaper and a roll seems to disappear twice as quickly.

Q. Why are items listed here for sale here are not on sale at your warehouse
A. Because warehouses sometimes are on different sales timelines for UNADVERTISED sale items due to logistics, timing, or just because. Only advertised sale items in the weekly flyer are on same timeline across a costco sales region ie. costco west
Q. Why show expired sales items?
A. There are probably several answers for this.
1. if you are paying for early access, it may not be expired when you have access but if you aren’t paying for early access, then it may be expired by the time you look at the blog.
2. Expiration dates on UNADVERTISED sale items (ie. not in the weekly flyer), CAN BE hit or miss by warehouse. For example, sometimes unadvertised items for sale in Vancouver that have expired may not show on sale in Calgary warehouses until a week or two later probably due to logistics. Given the comments on why people are asking this question, this is probably more common than people believe. So items that have expired on this week’s list don’t necessarily mean its not valid for the warehouses in other provinces.

It’s such an unethical company. Mostly older adults now use Facebook (and there are many) but they’re either oblivious to the privacy and advertising implications and more (or they just don’t care).
As far as the Logitech mouse on clearance at Costco goes, it’s my opinion that it’s on clearance because it’s not a good seller. Logitech mice for this model doesn’t last long at all, whereas other mice especially wired can last 10 years and more. Even the USB dongle versions don’t last long (for the most part). Most of these Logitech models (and we tried many) have connectivity issues (even the wired ones). Save yourself the stress and look for another model/brand.

Some sites, such as Facebook, do have groups that provide regional sale items. What I appreciate about this site is that the list is a complete one that is updated consistently and the items are organized well. I know that this takes time and work, so I hope that he is compensated for it through subscriptions and ad revenue. I use this site regularly and recommend it highly to family and friends. It’s possible that this site is maintained solely to help shoppers but I think it’s a bit naive to think that it isn’t also a business. That isn’t meant as a criticism; if anything, it’s a compliment.

Paying for a service does not preclude you from being nice and appreciative to someone who is largely doing this on a volunteer basis. Also, there is more than one seniors day from what I understand. So, if Donna doesn’t feel like paying for this service is worth it due to a VERY RARE mistake in expiry dates, she can wait and go to Costco later in the week. Be safe, be kind.

As you may or may not know, Manitoba has been in code red for over 2 months. I am a senior who takes advantage of the early operating hours and shop for 2 other families besides my own. I try not to spend more time than necessary in the store which is one of the reasons up to date information is important to me. Keep up the accuracy. I depend on it.

Hi Donna, I just went through all the expiry dates on the photos I post this week and there was only one with a sale date that was expired – The Apple Airpods. These were posted because the in-store price tag had not been changed and I did not notice it while editing. Are there other price expired price tags that you have seen on this post or previous posts that I am missing?
I have noticed that there are items listed that are not on sale, items that are expired and find it difficult to navigate the list especially when I’m going through the store. Are you no longer editing?
Hi Donna, I haven’t changed the way I have been taking photos in years. I post sale items, clearance items and new items that catch my interested (which are the ones at regular price). Sometimes there may be a sale item or two that had a price tag that has not been changed and sometimes I do not catch it on the editing process. However, the sale expiry dates are clearly displayed in the caption of each photo.

I guess I’ve always been the type of person who goes to a lot of different costco locations so I’ve always noticed the discrepancies between locations. For example a big one is hockey tape – Willingdon is the only Vancouver location that consistently stocks it but it sometimes shows up at my regular location. Now that I’m in Calgary a lot of items are different in terms of in-store sales AND with the same local location variation that exists in Vancouver.
Anyways everyone can have a voice because you are a light-handed moderator and I think that is probably for the best. Just ignore the rude people and keep doing what you’ve been doing which is gradually add to the site features as you see fit. People are still welcome to go to the store and wander around aimlessly.

Hey, so I noticed the sale on 908g “double pack” Cardinal ribs and went to my freezer to check and I still had a pack from last year…. 1.35kg… huh. So they’ve lopped almost 1/2 kg off and I never even noticed. I know pork and beef have been at a premium for awhile but that’s pretty bogus.
Oh my. Whatever you do, please avoid the up/downvote option. That is insulting, demeaning, and abusive.
When someone disagrees with your comment, say, that food item tasted terrible, what will they do when they see a up or down vote icon? They’ll downvote it whether they disagree with it or if it’s out of spite (malicious).
I have seen countless of fact based comments on RFD (your old stomping grounds) and on Reddit where they get downvoted all because the culture of that thread was dominated by a a few and then the rest follow the shape of the thread.
It’s not rationale to see things any other way. The abusive nature of the downvoting and upvoting system far supersedes any benefit.
This site/blog has turned into a childish forum where people to rant and rave. I can see you love to have controversy and debate here, it brings more visitors. If I was to speculate, I would say this is won’t be bringing in any order and filtering out rants and raves — pity.

Yes he was here from RFD when it was a strict volunteer thing when the previous guy went MIA. He eventually then decided a dedicated website was more appropriate. Eventually keeping up with maintenance costs money and his own time, so asking for people to subscribe for early access to provide a more enhanced experience for viewers was necessary to help fund this project.
Paid or unpaid subscribers should just appreciate someone else is doing this. If you don’t like it, don’t depend on it.
I have noticed errors before but instead of conplaining and going beyond pointing it out (demanding, like Donna did), i am only just appreciating all the hard work here by Tynan.

Whether they’re in defence of the commenter or against, I suggest you add a feedback section and from this moment forward and stop approving such comments. It’s frustrating and common to read lazy or half-intelligent comments.
It goes without saying in the world of the internet, forums, social media, and blogs you’re going to have friends, clicks, and others arguing their or others’ positions and congregate to one location (like here) and defend their friends (or the like-minded). What we have shown now, more than ever is how systematically even in Canada, we are very divided on many levels.
I feel Donna’s tone was a little rude. I believe she has some friends who came and supported her here. It may even be her or her family.
And it’s for this exact reason why I feel these off-topic comments must stop. If people fail to make an effort and go through your site or don’t read the common questions, that’s their fault. If I was a premium member, I’d be choked having to read all these petty comments/remarks. This isn’t Facebook, Parler, or Reddit.
I respectfully suggest you don’t approve of those kinds of posts in the future. If they have a personal issue, they can take it up with you via the “contact us” feature.

I feel lucky that this blog has a really good user base and I don’t have to delete many comments (expect for SPAM) I try to keep a light hand while moderating comments unless they are rude or completely off topic. Unless the situation changes, I’ll probably keep the same level of moderation. I hope to be able to update the comment section to be able to upvote or downvote comments which may help clean up the comment section too 🙂

I live in Saskatchewan and quite often items that are on sale in the BC stores are not on sale here. I think expiry dates sometimes can make a difference on whether it goes on sale here. Thank you for all the work you do, I don’t go shopping until I check your post.

Has anyone else noticed the change in KIRKLAND TOILET PAPER?
It used to be a decent product for a decent price, now it is thinner, cheaper and a roll seems to disappear twice as quickly.

A. Because warehouses sometimes are on different sales timelines for UNADVERTISED sale items due to logistics, timing, or just because. Only advertised sale items in the weekly flyer are on same timeline across a costco sales region ie. costco west
Q. Why show expired sales items?
A. There are probably several answers for this.
1. if you are paying for early access, it may not be expired when you have access but if you aren’t paying for early access, then it may be expired by the time you look at the blog.
2. Expiration dates on UNADVERTISED sale items (ie. not in the weekly flyer), CAN BE hit or miss by warehouse. For example, sometimes unadvertised items for sale in Vancouver that have expired may not show on sale in Calgary warehouses until a week or two later probably due to logistics. Given the comments on why people are asking this question, this is probably more common than people believe. Don’t let anyone say to you anything different. Adding the expiry dates of the items plus the item number is PRICELESS. This info is extremely valuable. The needs to the many outweigh the needs of the few!
Speaking of needs. What is everyone doing now to get their inkjet cartridges refilled. Is there anyone who they swear by locally?

As you may or may not know, Manitoba has been in code red for over 2 months. I am a senior who takes advantage of the early operating hours and shop for 2 other families besides my own. I try not to spend more time than necessary in the store which is one of the reasons up to date information is important to me. Keep up the accuracy. I depend on it.

Thanks again. The snowfall warning certainly was a bust, that’s for sure. No snow at all in our area of Metro Vancouver…not one flake this weekend or today.
Just a reminder, we were really disappointed with the broccoli cheddar soup. It was very watery.
Also, Costco has a notice on their website that as of Feb 14 (those locations that still offered ink jet inking and more) weill close for good. This is in both Canada and USA. This is what it says:
The photo department at all Costco locations will close on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

Thanks for your swift reply. I would like to be able to skim the items while shopping without having to read each and every expiry date. I do expect to see what’s on sale at the current time or in the future ( such as the February offers ) as they are what’s relevant. I thought this was the service I am paying for.
Hi Donna, I just went through all the expiry dates on the photos I post this week and there was only one with a sale date that was expired – The Apple Airpods. These were posted because the in-store price tag had not been changed and I did not notice it while editing. Are there other price expired price tags that you have seen on this post or previous posts that I am missing?

I have noticed that there are items listed that are not on sale, items that are expired and find it difficult to navigate the list especially when I’m going through the store. Are you no longer editing?
Hi Donna, I haven’t changed the way I have been taking photos in years. I post sale items, clearance items and new items that catch my interested (which are the ones at regular price). Sometimes there may be a sale item or two that had a price tag that has not been changed and sometimes I do not catch it on the editing process. However, the sale expiry dates are clearly displayed in the caption of each photo.
